Zaila Avant-garde

Zaila Avant-garde, age 14, sponsored by the New Orleans Chapter of The Links, won the $50,000 prize by correctly spelling the word “Murraya.”

Zaila has written five books since her championship. She also has appeared on the Bee broadcast on Ion. She continues to hold two Guinness World Records.

Harini Logan

Harini Logan, age 14, sponsored by the Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre Association, won the $50,000 prize by correctly spelling the word “moorhen.”

Harini is a student at Saint Mary’s Hall prep school in San Antonio, Texas. She earned a full scholarship to attend the school.

Dev Shah

Dev Shah, age 14, sponsored by the SNSB Region One Bee, won the $50,000 prize by correctly spelling the word “psammophile.”

Dev is a student at Largo High School in Largo, Florida. Since his championship, he has appeared on the Bee broadcast on Ion and has written articles about his Bee experience for publications such as The Washington Post and Education Week.

Bruhat Soma

Bruhat Soma, age 12, sponsored by the Rays Baseball Foundation and Rowdies Soccer Fund, won the $50,000 prize by correctly spelling the word “abseil.”

Bruhat is a student at Turner/Bartels K-8 in Tampa, Florida.
